Application Requirements

BCS operates in China, Europe and in the Americas. With the globalization of its core business and having extensive collaboration with various domestic and international players in R&D and production, BCS has an imminent and growing need to provide personalized self-service for its employees. This refers to their need to create a safe, efficient, and contextual work experience, as well as providing seamless, consistent, and standardized access to applications. An example for such mechanism would be providing all-round, global internet endpoint management support to staff who need to go on work trips at home and abroad.

In terms of IT service management, BCS is looking to reduce costs and increase efficiency through the automation of work processes, which in turn result in more efficient, compliant, and secure operations which bring strategic value for the company. Additionally, from traditional IT service desks to a more advanced ITIL process, BCS needs a platform which can easily adapt and scale so to meet specific business needs.

In terms of endpoint management, BCS needs its global equipment to comply with relevant standards and be brought into the integrated platform to achieve end-to-end management. Additionally, they need a future-proof platform equipped to handle various scenarios involving different asset digital information, such as the management of data centers, cloud servers and edge management.

BCS also needs to build a policy-based access control system, giving employees in various roles access rights to corresponding applications and related data. It has to be a system which will not affect employee efficiency while safeguarding the company’s data security. The platform in question also needs to be operationally changeable in order to support individual needs in response to local conditions and in a flexible, timely manner.

Solutions

In early 2020, BCS invested in the construction of an IT service management platform. During the same time, they deployed the Ivanti unified endpoint management and application control solution.

By combining different functional modules and products under Ivanti and building a platform to address these business issues, BCS successfully unified the operation and maintenance of IT service management and terminal management on a global standard, while claiming industry leadership in the maintenance of its system integration and automation levels. Of these solutions, ITSM targets employees globally and offers a standardized IT service platform for individuals in different operational roles. Endpoint management, on the other hand, focuses on the management of equipment operation and maintenance across the world, including some 14 companies and subsidiaries in China, Germany, the United States, Mexico, the Czech Republic, Italy, Romania, and Poland. Meanwhile, its application control is mainly for business lines such as finance, design and development, as it focuses on solving problems related to the use of proprietary software. An example would be offering support to the R&D team in terms of usage escalation and related support, such as when a software runs into major version updates. In this scenario, with proper support, users can upload the software to a specific SharePoint folder, from which other authorized users can then install and use the software on their end.

Through a single platform to discover, manage and protect all devices, Ivanti is a solution which helps BCS uncover nuanced insights and offers the company with comprehensive protection. The platform provides pragmatic, real-time intelligence that enables endpoints to heal and protect on their own, while providing provide users with a personalized self-service experience.

In addition, the solution offers application control which combines dynamic approval and denial lists with permission management, so to stop unauthorized code from executing. This means IT staff does not need to physically manage large lists nor restrict users. Since service requests and approval processes are automated through the service desk system, IT staff is freed from these tasks and can focus on providing more streamlined user experiences.

Through Ivanti's powerful, comprehensive and all-round solution, BCS has successfully built an IT management mechanism which caters to user experience, offers efficiency and security, and supports employees across all business lines around the world to work with greater ease and efficiency.
