How Landeskrankenhaus transformed IT support with proactive innovation

A rapid path to full integration 

Landeskrankenhaus hospital is a leading care provider in Germany. More than 5,000 employees provide care for of psychiatric and neurological patients across 30+ locations. In just two short years, Ivanti’s comprehensive solutions and pre-structured process chains have made a significant contribution to the standardization of Landeskrankenhaus’ processes, streamlined device management and enabled proactive problem-solving. 

The challenge 

Landeskrankenhaus struggled with a fragmented IT landscape, juggling devices from various providers across sites. This hybrid setup created confusion for users and inefficiencies for IT, leading to mounting support tickets. The dispersed locations stretched the small IT team of 40 to its limits as they scrambled to manage workloads and disgruntled users leading to more complaints. Disparate tools and processes made proactive maintenance near impossible, forcing the team into a reactive cycle of addressing disruptions instead of driving innovation.

Compliance demands added more complexity, with limited tools to adapt to evolving regulations and safeguard sensitive data. They urgently needed a unified, scalable solution. Ivanti stepped in to make it happen. 

The solution 

With a clear need for transformation, Landeskrankenhaus partnered with Ivanti to overhaul its fragmented IT operations. The Ivanti Neurons platform provided the foundation for this transformation: 

  • Ivanti Endpoint Manager centralized device management, simplifying administration and boosting efficiency. 
  • Ivanti Neurons for Patch Intelligence automated updates across devices, enhancing compliance and reducing vulnerabilities. 

Proactive automation was a game-changer:  

  • Ivanti Neurons for Healing deployed self-healing bots to detect and resolve issues before they disrupted operations.  
  • Ivanti Neurons Discovery and Ivanti Neurons for Edge Intelligence proactively monitored device health, for example, tracking battery lifecycles, which minimized downtime and kept systems running smoothly. 
  • Ivanti Neurons for Digital Experience automated critical processes like user profile loading during login, streamlining workflows and enhancing employee efficiency. 
  • Ivanti Neurons for ITSM has helped to optimize communication between IT support and users by enabling the introduction of a unified support ticket system.  
  • Ivanti Neurons for Service Mapping offers real added value through the fully automated creation of a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) 

A phased and collaborative rollout 

To ensure a smooth transition, Landeskrankenhaus and Ivanti began with a thorough assessment of the hospital's IT needs, followed by a successful proof of concept (PoC). They started small by testing the solutions within the IT department before gradually rolling them out across all sites, minimizing disruption and ensuring seamless adoption. Today, the hospital uses nearly the entire Ivanti suite, integrating its tools into daily operations. Users perceive the changes primarily through a different look and feel; at no time were processes noticeably affected by the reorganisation within IT.

Delivering measurable results 

Landeskrankenhaus has achieved significant efficiency gains and resource optimization with Ivanti’s solutions in place. A unified platform provides a single pane of glass for IT operations, reducing workloads and freeing staff to focus on strategic initiatives.  

IT tickets reduced by 12.5%: Automation resolves issues before they impact users. 

Automation of tickets: By automating some processes, the number of tickets that have to be processed manually was reduced by a further 7.5% (total 20%) 

Registration times shortened: User logins were optimised 

Hardware costs cut by 15%: Proactive lifecycle management and warranty tracking minimize replacements. 

Improvement in IT security: Thanks to intelligent and automated patch management, the patch status was raised from 65% of patches applied (including software patches) to 98%, again without any impairment of the user experience. 

The stringent use of the range of tools and the consistent use of standardised procedures based on common frameworks have led to greater satisfaction across the board. Employees benefit from fewer IT disruptions and faster support, while the IT team enjoys decreased pressure and a more proactive, fulfilling work environment.

We get on well with Ivanti; they get on well with us – that works really well with our system. We have continued to expand it and have now reached the point that we actually run the entire IT administration via Ivanti.

Looking ahead

Landeskrankenhaus and Ivanti are looking to the future, with plans to explore AI-driven IT solutions and other emerging technologies. The focus remains on building an IT infrastructure that’s ready to adapt and grow alongside the hospital’s needs while keeping efficiency and user satisfaction at the heart of it all.
