Mixed Signals

"In order to excel, you must be completely dedicated to your chosen sport…" – Willie Mays

It’s become fairly difficult these days not to feel uncertain about who is dedicated to IT teams and the software they use.

In the IT industry, we hear news of new mergers and acquisitions regularly. HCL acquired BigFix from IBM last year. VMware acquired Pivotal, and then doubled down in its acquisition of Carbon Black. And more recently, Broadcom entered the game and has acquired Symantec. All of this in one year!

With all these industry changes, where does that leave IT teams who rely on endpoint management software to operate their businesses? Are they concerned about the viability of their software investments? Are they being supported? What are the possible replacements? Nobody likes being caught off guard by a curve ball!

The Change-up

“Every time I take the mound, I try to win. So that’s what I’m trying to do.” – Masahiro Tanaka

This isn’t to say that these industry changes are negative—in fact, the outcome is usually a better product or service—but they do create a level of confusion best mitigated with an IT partnership dedicated to your team.

Managing hundreds (if not thousands) of devices and keeping them secure while ensuring users have a good experience isn’t easy. The new norm is to manage users remotely. And let’s face it, an IT solution is an investment. So, as a customer, the last thing you should have to worry about is whether your vendor is invested with you or competing against you.

Big Hits for IT

“There are three types of baseball players: Those who make it happen, those who watch it happen and those who wonder what happens.” – Tommy Lasorda

Ivanti is more than a vendor. We're a dedicated IT organization. We’ve made a number of strategic acquisitions over the years to create a trusted unified IT solution—one that allows IT teams to build and scale their environments remotely as needed across multiple service needs while helping them consolidate vendorsWith this approach, Ivanti becomes more than a vendor, but a trusted teammate of its customers for many years to come. Many IT teams have come to rely on this relationship as much as they have on the software itself—helping them become IT organizations capable of producing innovative, big hits, not just singles. They, as Tommy Lasorda would say, make it happen.

If one thing is for sure, it's that change-ups will continue being thrown in the IT industry. I don’t think we need a secret signal call to understand this. Use change to your advantage. If you’re unsure about your IT investment, then maybe it's time to explore a possible change of your IT management system. Find a teammate who shares your vision of winning.
