Patching in Review – Week 17 of 2019

Here we are mid-month between our patching cycles. To those who have already rolled out April’s patches without issue, lucky you! To those who had to roll back their systems due to stability or performance issues, this week doesn’t look to bring much resolution.
Microsoft finally released its mid-month preview patches for most supported Windows versions yesterday, but it appears there’s no resolution to the major compatibility issues with certain AV vendors present in the Patch Tuesday patches. In fact, McAfee was added to the list of known issues this week with reports of slow boot times and performance after installing the April 2019 updates. - McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention (Host IPS) 8.0
- McAfee VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) 8.8
Security Releases
Google Chrome released a new major version this week with a total 39 security fixes. Version 74.0.3729.108 contains a total of 19 CVEs, with five High severity vulnerabilities and a total of $25,000 paid to researchers. Although there are no Critical vulnerabilities for this release, make sure to get this distributed out to your end users.
Third-Party Updates
Although there was only a single security release this week, other vendors were releasing non-security updates with valuable stability fixes and potential undisclosed vulnerabilities. Please see the list below for any relevant patches for your environment:
