Today marks my tenth Anniversary at AppSense. Before my career here I used to work for an AppSense customer (Sita/Suez) where I used the solution to maintain a highly complex, multiplatform environment in a simple way by using AppSense to separate the user from the underlying infrastructure. Excited by the solution and it’s capabilities, I joined AppSense in August 2005.

Since joining I have seen many customers use the AppSense software to overcome large challenges related to adopting and maintaining a new platform, migrating to new versions of Windows and maintaining multiple, large environments.

After ten years I’ve discovered much of the friction in these large projects can be traced to several common desktop challenges:

  1. Lack of personalization and consistent end user experience in multiplatform environments or when migrating to a newer version of Windows
  2. Long logon times
  3. End-Users demanding local admin-rights to be able “do their job”
  4. Users storing data on locations outside the controlled and secure environment just to be simply productive outside office hours
  5. Lack of transparency to endpoints makes informed decision making difficult

AppSense overcomes these challenges by separating the user entity from the platform. This user entity or “User DNA” is built from Personalization, Policy, Privilege, Performance, Data Access and Analytics.

Today I am very proud that AppSense solutions are being used in many environments, from small to enterprise. We’re supported by our channel partners, system integrators, and recognized by our partnerships with Microsoft, Citrix and VMware. The latest recognition of this was our CEO being named a Top industry innovator in CRN’s Top 100 Channel executive list and in the top 25 innovators of 2015.

Windows 10 was released on the 29th of July, and after ten years of helping customers adopt previous versions of Windows, I really can’t wait to help new customers make their migration!
