Ivanti Neurons for MDM Delivers ChromeOS Support

We’re excited to announce that Ivanti Neurons for MDM now provides ChromeOS device management. With this support, organisations can fully leverage Google’s ChromeOS and Ivanti’s integration with Google Cloud.

We continue to offer diverse choice of device and simplify endpoint management with our UEM solution by working with partners, like Google. At Ivanti, we strongly believe that our solution enables organisations to adopt their best endpoint management strategy. Many organisations choose a specific OS platform (device/manufacturer), while others take a hybrid approach based on their use cases.

Ivanti provides a single-pane-of-glass visibility into their digital assets, as well as comprehensive OS agnostic device management capabilities. Our UEM solution delivers the same easy to manage experience for IT when adding new OS or device types. So, organisations can further embrace new devices and expect improved IT efficiency and end user productivity without a sharp learning curve.

Ivanti Neurons for MDM delivers ChromeOS support with the following key capabilities:

  • 500+ device, user, and browser settings using ChromeOS blueprint.
  • Remotely lock, unlock, or wipe device(s).
  • Manage the applications for these devices.
  • Manage the device inventory and monitor associated health.

ChromeOS offers organisations an opportunity to improve IT efficiency and cost savings, as we have witnessed a significant shift in endpoint management strategy to modernise end user computing in recent years.

Besides cost effectiveness, ChromeOS has helped organisations to improve security postures including ransomware attacks with ChromeOS Flex. ChromeOS-management allows IT to adopt a hands-free approach, but at the same time it provides IT with granular controls to manage many aspects of the device including OS/patch management, app management or security controls.

ChromeOS combined with Google Chrome browser offers many benefits for organisations to feel confident about their device security posture.

Phishing Security

  • Google Safe Browsing warns users of malicious sites before navigating to them.
  • Security keys and two-step verification during login help prevent hackers from using stolen passwords.
  • Password Alert Policy allows users to change a password when it is used with an unauthorised site.

Reduce Attack Surface

  • Read-only OS (Operating System) prevents executables and malicious apps from running locally.
  • Verified boot confirms the system is unmodified at boot up.
  • Low on-device data footprint limits the data that can be held at ransom.

Malware Protection

  • Per-permission based block listing controls what extensions can be accessed.
  • Managed Google Play facilitates tighter control on applications allowed.
  • Application sandboxing limits attack surface.

Devices vendors also receive a ChromeOS recommended stamp, a certification of approval from Google which makes it easier to adopt new generation of devices without having to evaluate device vendors or choices over a device refresh cycle. You can review ChromeOS recommended devices here.

With the extension of Android apps to the ChromeOS platform, many compatible VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) solutions and a UEM solution like Ivanti, we expect that ChromeOS will continue to evolve its capabilities and expand its use cases. If you’re considering ChromeOS devices in the future, there are some great customer stories.
