HEAT Software First to be Awarded CESG CPA Accreditation for Software Execution Control

Endpoint security solution approved for UK government and public sector organisations

BRACKNELL, UK — 6 September 2016 —

HEAT Software, a leading provider of Cloud Service Management and Unified Endpoint Management software solutions, announced today that HEAT Endpoint Security, following evaluation by the CESG Commercial Product Assurance (CPA) Scheme, is the first solution to be approved for use at Foundation Grade against the security characteristic of software execution control.

With CPA certification, the HEAT Endpoint Security solution is now recommended for all public sector and commercial organisations looking to bolster defences, in accordance with CESG guidelines, to prevent the impact of all types of malware. CESG is the National Technical Authority for Information Assurance in the UK and information security arm of the UK Government Communications HQ (GCHQ).

“Being the first to achieve accreditation against this security characteristic is an exciting milestone for HEAT Software and a tremendous validation of our product portfolio,” said John Ferron, Executive Chairman & CEO, HEAT Software. “As part of a layered approach to security, software execution control is a key element in the prevention of malware attacks, such as the ransomware examples so prevalent in the today’s press.”

Software execution control products limit which software applications and services are able to run on an operating system. They are used to control the attack surface of a platform by reducing the number of potential vulnerabilities exposed by a system, and also help to mitigate the impact of attacks. They are used with an administrator-defined set of rules which govern which software a user is able to execute.
