Companies are not founded, they are born. Also, you don't build software, you grow software. Back in 1999 we were working in IT when our company was born. We challenged the way IT was being delivered and believed there had to be a better way to do this. We wanted to create IT heroes with a single platform for delivering a predictable and well-managed user experience. We rejected the thought that business and IT must be at odds or that more flexibility meant less security. And so, we started growing the software, together with our great partners and dear customers.

As I write this we are at the eve of releasing v10 of RES ONE, our platform for creating, automating, and securing the digital workspace. I'm very proud of what we have achieved together in all those years. As a founder of RES, I'm grateful for the business problems we can solve for our customers, the many fans that RES has today, and for providing meaningful jobs to hundreds of people and their families in several countries. We have great technology, awesome people, excellent partners, and terrific customers. But there is more to RES than just growing every year and creating stakeholder value. This is reflected by our Power of Giving Back program. We started this program in 2015 and it is our answer to Corporate Social Responsibility driven by passion, care and resolve.

The first cornerstone of the Power of Giving Back is our support of and involvement in Orange Babies. Orange Babies is a Dutch charitable organization that operates internationally and is committed to minimizing HIV infection and contamination in Africa. Orange Babies supports 20 projects in South Africa, Namibia and Zambia. RES is the proud sponsor of the project in Namibia, called Ehalelo Koo Meme, which translates to “Hope for Mothers.”  Employee Inspired Giving is the second cornerstone of The Power of Giving Back. RES is committed to inspire employees to raise funds for a charitable organization of their choice. Every dollar that the employee raises, will be matched by RES. In 2016 we supported initiatives like Three Squares New England, International Bipolar Foundation, Ride for Kids, Alpe d'Huzes and many others.

The third cornerstone is our License Donation Program. This program started last year to support small non-profit community organizations with free RES licenses and support, together with a RES partner. We specifically look to support small scale projects and non-profit organizations where we can truly make a difference.

The final part of The Power of Giving Back is the RES Community Day. We organize a yearly community service day to honor our founding date (October 2nd) and to support our local community. In 2016 our RES people in the US came together to give back to Cradles to Crayons, an organization that provides children from birth to age twelve with essential items needed to thrive. Our people sorted and packaged clothing, toys, and books to be distributed to low-income families. RES people in the Netherlands gathered at a care farm "Ons Stekkie" that takes care of elderly people suffering from Alzheimer's disease. There we cleaned the greenhouse and activity room, painted the chicken house, painted barns and did a lot of gardening. RES people in Romania planted over 1200 trees, helping the MaiMultiVerde Association.

We spend most of our life at work. Here at RES we all are part of something special. Every day our technology makes a difference for many organizations and our people are making a difference for our communities. That is the Power of Giving Back. Join us today.
