On Wednesday, Nov. 8, the Ivanti Security Summit will take place in Seattle. The theme of the event is Cybersecurity for Today’s Extreme Threats. And in partnership with global advisory powerhouse The Chertoff Group, we’ve put together an “A” list of speakers and sessions to help every attendee deal more effectively with those threats, today and tomorrow.

Ivanti Security Summit Speakers

Speakers from Ivanti will include CEO Steve Daly, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) Phil Richards, Manager of Product Marketing (and security evangelist) Amber Boehm, and Manager of Product Management Chris (“Mr. Patch Tuesday”) Goettl. Joining them from The Chertoff Group will be Jim Pflaging, Technology Sector Principal and Strategy Practice Lead, and Director Chris Duvall.

Both Jim and Chris have decades of experience in cybersecurity and risk management. Jim spent more than 15 years running various cybersecurity and data management companies. Chris spent two years as a federal employee and 10 years as a consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He led several strategic cybersecurity initiatives for that agency, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Also joining this powerhouse faculty is Scott Carlson, Technical Fellow and Executive Security Advisor at privilege access management solution provider BeyondTrust. Scott is a widely respected industry thought leader, with more than 20 years’ experience in the banking, education, and payment sectors. He was previously Director of Information Security Strategy & Integration with PayPal. There, he created and executed security strategy for infrastructure across all PayPal properties, including worldwide data centers, office networks, and public cloud deployments. Before PayPal, he held similar roles with Apollo Education Group, Charles Schwab, Cargill, and the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA).

The Sessions

Each Summit session is designed to spur ideas and discussion that helps attendees understand what’s needed to create and execute effective, actionable security strategies.

  • Security in the Workplace Today and the Convergence of IT
  • End the Hair-on-Fire Approach: Anticipate Threats and Defend Proactively
  • Security Blocking and Tackling: The Importance of the First 5 Critical Security Controls
  • Unifying Endpoint Management and Endpoint Security

The day will wrap up with an interactive roundtable Q&A session, and closing remarks from Jim and Phil.

The Call

If you’ve read any of our security blog posts, you know that we at Ivanti are convinced that cybersecurity threats will continue to expand and evolve. We are equally convinced that that enterprises need proactive, multi-layered protection and remediation strategies to deliver defense in depth against such threats.

Those strategies must combine modern, automated, consolidated management solutions will effective, well-informed policies and processes. Expertise can help in the creation of these, which is why we’ve organized this Summit. It’s also why you and your colleagues are invited to attend with Ivanti’s compliments. (You are responsible for your own travel and accommodation costs, if any.)

Visit the Ivanti Security Summit web page to view more details about the speakers and sessions, or to register. We look forward to seeing you in Seattle.
