Smarter support with the Innovators Hub chatbot

We’re pleased to bring you a streamlined chatbot experience within the Innovators Hub. When you need help, the chatbot will first prompt you to select a product and describe your question or issue. It then searches our forums, knowledge articles and technical documentation to generate a relevant answer — helping you find a solution instantly, right within the chat.

If the suggested answer solves your problem, you can simply move on — no need to create a support case. If not, the chatbot gives you the option to ask another question or continue to case creation. If you proceed, the chatbot automatically carries over the details you’ve provided (like product and query) into the case form, so you only need to fill in the remaining required fields before submitting.

This workflow helps ensure every user gets fast, self-service support when possible, while still making it simple to escalate unresolved issues to our team. The chatbot is prompt-based and guides you step-by-step, so you can resolve issues quickly and spend less time searching for answers.

As I reflect on the tremendous progress our company has made since I joined three years ago, I want to take a moment to thank our customers for their continued trust and say how honored and grateful I am to lead this incredible team.

Ivanti’s commitment to providing our customers with seamless, innovative, and secure solutions is unwavering. Our goal is to exceed industry standards, and we understood from the start that meaningful advancements do not happen overnight. I would like to share some of our recent updates with you today.

Financial Flexibility Enables Continued Progress and Innovation

Last week, Ivanti announced a pivotal transaction that provides us with an additional $350 million in capital and extends our current debt obligations until 2029. As we sat down with our investors to outline our journey toward a SaaS-focused model, their responses underscored their collective confidence in our progress and the long-term prospects for our business. Our newly optimized capital structure affords Ivanti financial flexibility as we continue our transformation and accelerate innovation to meet the evolving needs of our customers.

Industry-Defining Product Security Aligned with Secure by Design Principles

Over the past year, we have shared the many ways we have doubled down on our Secure by Design commitments, taking steps to secure our products, and backing these actions with substantial investments and increases in our security team resources. It was critical for us that our pledge be more than just lip service; we were committing to actively and consistently taking steps to incorporate Secure by Design principles into every stage of our product development and decision-making processes.

Our transition to a SaaS model marks another crucial step in delivering future-proof solutions to our customers. Cloud solutions are inherently more secure, and we have made meaningful efforts to remove any roadblocks–whether financial, contractual, or functionality-driven–to support customer migration to the most up-to-date offerings via a disciplined installed base management program. Over the last 2.5 years, we have successfully migrated thousands of customers from on-prem to Ivanti Neurons solutions, with most new customers adopting our advanced, cloud-based offerings.

As part of our goal to ease the burden of security management for customers, we’ve made significant investments to automatically, and proactively counter current and future threats in our Ivanti Neurons cloud-based platform. As one example, we are rolling out important enhancements in our Neurons for Secure Access (nSA), which enable any Connect Secure edge appliance connected to nSA to be automatically patched by Ivanti in the event of a vulnerability. This technology aligns with our Secure by Design pledge and represents an important path forward for the industry in proactive security management.

Additionally, in April we announced Ring Deployment, an important innovation in Ivanti Neurons for Patch Management. An increasing number of N-Day compromises result from delays in patching, as IT teams manage a seemingly relentless stream of releases. Ring Deployment allows devices to be strategically organized based on specific needs or risk levels, enabling a controlled and prioritized patch rollout with minimal disruption to production systems. This reduces IT team strain, streamlines patch management, and fortifies customers’ environments.

Strength in Transparency and Proactive Vulnerability Management

Finally, I want to take a moment to touch on a topic that seems to get a lot of attention in the media.

At Ivanti, we view transparency as fundamental to customer trust and security. Our philosophy is simple: discovering and communicating vulnerabilities, and sharing that information with defenders, is not an indication of weakness; rather it is evidence of rigorous scrutiny and a proactive vulnerability management program. By aggressively seeking to identify and address vulnerabilities, our aim is to get ahead of threat actors and ensure our customers can take the steps needed to protect themselves.

At Ivanti, we will always advocate for transparency in CVE disclosures, both for our own products, and across the industry. It is our belief that vulnerabilities that go unnoticed and unaddressed may keep companies out of the headlines, but it also means their customers do not have the insights needed to fully understand and protect against risks. To this end, we also engage deeply with the security community, maintain long-term partnerships with leading security experts, and actively collaborate with government agencies. We work with our partners to share intelligence with defenders that goes above and beyond standard disclosure practices. This helps prevent threat actors from replicating new attack patterns or threat vectors against others in the market, and we firmly believe this is a practice that everyone in the security and software industries should adhere to.

An Update on Ivanti's Ongoing Commitment to Enhanced Product Security

In April 2024 the Ivanti CEO issued an open letter on our commitment to product security. We are very proud of the progress we have made, but as we all know, Security is a journey of continuous improvement. Ivanti is committed to this journey and to protecting our customers as the threat landscape continues to evolve.

Similar to other companies that develop network security and edge products, our edge products have been targeted and exploited by sophisticated threat actor attacks. While these products are not the ultimate target, they are increasingly the route that well-resourced nation state groups are focusing their effort on to attempt espionage campaigns against extremely high-value organizations.

Our response to any incident is to learn from it, invest in improving our products, and ultimately make it harder for our products to be abused by sophisticated adversaries.

A final, important point: we all continue to reap value from important security industry partnerships. By collaborating closely with government and security industry partners we are stronger and more secure together. We thank our collaborators and look forward to redoubling our efforts in the future.

Bolstering Product Security and Embracing Secure by Design Frameworks

Specialized Security Resources: the Ivanti Security team is comprised of highly skilled security specialists who support Ivanti’s overall security, and a dedicated Product Security Team focused on the security of our solutions. The size of this team has increased more than 8X over the past few years, along with meaningful elevation in threat expertise.
Leading Third-Party Partnerships and Tooling: we have expanded engagements with leading security and threat intelligence experts and utilize industry leading static and dynamic code analysis tooling during the development process to validate the security of our solutions and ensure Ivanti developers adhere to secure coding practices.
Secure by Design Alignment: our development process includes robust security protocols throughout the product lifecycle, including rigorous threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, and security measures specifically to improve our solutions’ resilience against current and emerging threats – additional details can be found on our website.
Product Security Optimization: we have invested significant resources in our Ivanti Neurons cloud platform to alleviate the burden of security for our customers, including automated security updates, MFA enabled out of the box, and unified role-based access control (RBAC) system.
Network Security Group Enhancements: we have evolved the Network Security Group, which is responsible for developing Ivanti Connect Secure, in both focus, size and product leadership. As of October, this group is led by Michael Riemer – an industry veteran and cybersecurity expert with deep knowledge on this product line. Under Michael’s leadership we have increased internal engineering resources and engaged additional specialized contracted resources, which are in high demand across the network security industry.
Prioritizing Product Security Enhancements for Ivanti Connect Secure (ICS): we have prioritized product security enhancements for ICS. This includes our new 25.x version that upgrades to Oracle Linux OS to be completed in 2H 2025. We have also made other significant security enhancements in our Network Security products such as Secure Boot with TPM key management, Non-Root Privilege Access Control, a modernized web service, and WAF component.
Enhancements to the Integrity Checker Tool (ICT): the ICT has been an effective tool at identifying threat actor efforts since its introduction in 2021 and is a prime example of Ivanti’s commitment to proactive security for our solutions. This tool has aided in our forensic efforts and in the case of the vulnerability disclosed on January 8, alerted our customer to threat actor activity on the same day it occurred. This allowed us to respond swiftly and develop a fix for the issue.

Elevating our Vulnerability Management Program

Vulnerability Identification: we have enhanced internal scanning, manual exploitation and testing capabilities, increased collaboration and information sharing with the security ecosystem, and further enhanced our responsible disclosure process, including becoming a CVE Numbering Authority. While this creates a natural and intended increase in vulnerability disclosure (and consequently, media coverage), it is not indicative of increased risk; on the contrary, it demonstrates our commitment to transparency and going above and beyond industry standards.

Providing Enhanced Support for Secure Product Deployments in the Field

Platform Upgrades: we are working with customers to accelerate customer migration from End-of-Life solutions, including eliminating barriers—be they contractual, technical, or financial—that slow adoption of our most advanced and secure solutions. Together with our customers, we are making significant strides towards achieving full migration to our latest solutions.
On-Prem Security Support: for customers that require on-prem solutions, we have systematically improved our product documentation and are providing best practices to equip them with the tools and knowledge necessary to navigate and mitigate security challenges within their unique operational environments.

Sharing Information with our Customers and Community

Information Sharing and Transparency: we have actively participated in events and created multiple forums for dialogue with our customers, which has deepened our understanding of evolving needs, and enabled us to share crucial insights and lessons learned. We have formalized a strategic program to collect feedback from customers throughout the customer's lifecycle, enabling a continuous loop of feedback to ensure ongoing alignment with customer needs.

US Federal Government's Role in Filling the Cybersecurity Talent Gap

Currently, there are 500,000 vacant cybersecurity positions in the United States – affecting businesses and government agencies alike. And with the frequency, sophistication and intensity of cyberattacks increasing, including those directed at federal agencies and critical infrastructure, the need for government and industry to work together to train, retain and develop workers with the required technical expertise and skills has never been greater. According to Congressional sources, cyber attacks on critical infrastructure rose by 30 percent globally in 2023, creating a growing gap in the cyber workforce that leaves organizations vulnerable to cybersecurity threats due to staffing shortages.

As the new Congress and administration are beginning to govern in Washington DC, it is imperative that cybersecurity and the development of a capable cyber workforce to combat highly resourced nation state threat actors be prioritized as a bipartisan issue. The US government has the opportunity to play a pivotal role in formulating policies and programs that offer necessary technical training to cultivate a domestic cybersecurity workforce. Additionally, these efforts will assist businesses in defending against the increasing frequency of cyberattacks.

At Ivanti, we support the policy proposals put forward in the Cyber PIVOTT Act, introduced by House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green. This legislation aims to enhance the accessibility of cyber training and education by establishing a new full-scholarship program for two-year degrees, including those offered at community colleges and technical schools, in exchange for required government service. Ivanti endorses this legislation and looks forward to supporting its enactment and the role that it will play in strengthening the US cybersecurity industry as a whole. We recognize the need for legislation to address cybersecurity and workforce needs, as well as to create incentives for young professionals to pursue careers in cybersecurity. This initiative takes direct aim at the persistent industry shortage of a skilled cybersecurity workforce.

Chairman Green’s Cyber PIVOTT Act is an important step in meeting this critical need for the cybersecurity industry. Congress should demonstrate its commitment to the cybersecurity of the nation by enacting this legislation immediately.

Ivanti Announces Android 15 Readiness

That means our customers can enjoy a smooth transition to Google's latest Android release on Day Zero.

This readiness for the new release is another example of how we continuously bring new functionalities to our products by working with customers and partners. Customers can access Ivanti specific product support for Android 15 on our support page.

What’s new for enterprises in Android 15

Unlike past releases, Android 15 saw the stock Android Open Source Platform (AOSP) released first. However, many qualifying Google Pixel devices also received the day-one update as Ivanti device management solutions were ready with support. Device manufacturers follow a different cadence for over-the-air (OTA) updates; we recommend IT enforce necessary policies to maintain business continuity and check with vendors for updates and schedules.

Android 15 has several features ranging from improved security to managing AI assist, as well as many enhancements to improve enterprise privacy and control.

Key Android 15 highlights for enterprise include:

Private Space

This is a completely new concept being introduced for the first time on Android 15. Private Space lets users create a separate “space” on their device where they can keep sensitive apps away from accidental or deliberate access of people other than owner of the device, under an additional layer of authentication.

This may seem beneficial for users for their personal apps, but it may come with concerns for enterprises that may have to choose between enabling and disabling this function for their corporate-owned-personally-enabled fleet. For fully managed devices (i.e. organizationally owned without personal profile allowed), Private Space will not be allowed.

Circle to Search

While many of us are still filled with excitement around generate AI, Google has added control to limit features like Circle to Search and Assistant apps from accessing “assist content.”

Introduction of managed eSIM

Android 15 extends the capabilities of Android for eSIM by allowing IT to manage eSIM on capable devices using activation codes. This new capability is expected to help organizations move away from hardware SIMs and prove useful for customers planning to migrate from one service to another.

New security & privacy controls

On Device Abuse Detection (ODAD) will be disabled to prevent scanning of enterprise developed “in-house” apps. For organizations which may benefit from ODAD, control has been added in Android 15 to enable it for work apps.
Adhering to NIAP compliance: Android 15 migrates existing backup service audit logging event from logcat to security log
Near-field communication on Android 15 can be controlled to be disabled all together.
BYOD privacy improvements: EMM solutions will be prevented from accessing users' personal subscriptions (cellular details), though access to a managed subscription will continue to be available.

Some additional features include: extending screen-brightness control has been extended to WPCOD mode; control to allow embedded or physical SIMs on a device has been made available; the minimum target SDK version for apps has been changed to API 24 (this determines if an app will be allowed to be installed on an Android 15 device); apps which run foreground services for longer than six hours may require changes, and more.

3 Key Takeaways From a Business Roundtable with U.S. Cybersecurity Leaders

A new front has opened in American national security. It is being fought in cyberspace, and private businesses in critical industries like energy, healthcare, water and financial services are on the frontlines.

This was the message delivered by Congressman Mark Green (R-TN-7) and Jen Easterly, Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) at a business roundtable in Nashville, Tennessee, this week. I was privileged to attend, along with other business executives, to discuss the cybersecurity challenges we face from nation-state attacks. A primary theme was how the U.S. government can assist businesses to defend and secure their networks against these attacks.

Chairman Green and Director Easterly summarized the following ways the U.S. government can assist businesses in addressing their cybersecurity needs.

Increasing the cyber workforce

According to a recent Congressional hearing, there are nearly 500,000 vacant cybersecurity jobs in the U.S., which is a critical vulnerability to our national security. Chairman Green discussed the need for creating a federal pipeline of cybersecurity talent by incentivizing public service that could then lead to the needed talent for the private sector. Likewise, CISA highlighted the need to prioritize hiring for cyber skills, knowledge, and capability over less-relevant educational requirements that often discount many qualified applicants.

Streamline government regulation

Chairman Green and Director Easterly were eager to hear from the business leaders on repetitive and burdensome regulatory reporting requirements. Many industry representatives shared how these well-intentioned regulations have the unintended consequence of diverting companies’ staff time and resources from protecting organizations against cybersecurity attacks. Chairman Green discussed his efforts in Congress to ensure that no new duplicative reporting requirements were added to businesses.

Incentivize for Secure by Design

Earlier this year, CISA announced “Secure by Design” commitments from software manufacturers who will build security directly into their software design. Director Easterly discussed how this pledge is a significant shift in cybersecurity risk for software, which in the past prioritized being the first to market or distinguishing features over security. I was proud to be the first CEO to sign this pledge, committing Ivanti to principles, standards and actions that will help us further elevate the security of our products and better protect our customers.

Globally, organizations are facing cybersecurity threats that threaten to disrupt day-to-day operations and endanger national security. The challenges that businesses and governments face to keep their products and networks secure are significant and consistent.

I am confident, however, that through collaboration between the public sector and private industry, we can create a stronger business environment that is secure and continues to lead the world in technological innovation.

The Secure-by-Design Pledge: A Commitment to Creating a Safer Digital Future

The exciting benefits of digital transformation and automation — global interconnectedness, efficient operations, greater business outcomes — have come with an equal measure of concern over digital safety. It has become clear that to safely realize the benefits of digital acceleration, as an industry we must take bold steps toward securing the digital landscape and mitigating cybersecurity threats.

At Ivanti this evolution is already under way — and we are committed to being at the very front of the movement. As a company, we have always believed that our customers’ interests – including security – should be a cornerstone of software development. With the threat landscape rapidly evolving, and tactics becoming increasingly aggressive and sophisticated, the imperative to put security first has never been greater.

That is why last month I outlined a bold plan for Ivanti to meet the new reality we are all facing. Our efforts are rooted in Secure by Design principles, weaving security into every stage of our software development lifecycles. Given this commitment, it makes sense that we’re among the first to sign the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure by Design pledge, which they unveiled on May 7, 2024 at the RSA Conference in San Francisco.

Our organization strives to produce the most secure solutions for Everywhere Work. Events in recent months have been humbling, and I want you to hear directly from me about the actions we are taking to ensure we emerge stronger, and our customers are more secure.

We and many others in our industry have witnessed, firsthand, the increasing complexity of the threat landscape and the specific evolution of threat-actor tactics. This activity has brought one of our products to the forefront of conversation regarding recently reported security incidents. We have responded by working diligently to protect and support our customers, and we are taking a very close look at our own posture and processes to ensure we are well prepared to address the current landscape.

We will use this opportunity to begin a new era at Ivanti. We have challenged ourselves to look critically at every phase of our processes, and every product, to ensure the highest level of protection for our customers. Our Plan for the Future of Ivanti

1. Bolstering Product Security and Embracing Secure by Design Principles.

Adhering to Secure-by-Design: Our focus is on embedding security into every stage of the software development lifecycle, with robust processes that anticipate and preemptively address potential vulnerabilities from product inception to deployment and beyond. Our approach will entail rigorous threat modeling exercises, ensuring that security is ingrained as a foundational element of our products. This proactive stance will serve as the cornerstone of our commitment, enabling us to enhance protections for our customers, and stay ahead of emerging threats.
Optimizing Products for Security and Customer Trust: We are already strengthening the overall security posture of our product portfolio. This includes accelerating the stack modernization of our Network Security products (Ivanti Connect Secure, Policy Secure and ZTA) with a variety of isolation and anti-exploit technologies to reduce the potential impact of future software defects. We are committed to maintaining the latest underlying operating system on our Network Security products and are integrating further hardware-based protections and remote monitoring and support options to increase protection for our customers.
Alleviating the Burden of Security for Customers: We will be enhancing our capabilities to provide solutions that are secure out of the box (Secure by Default) and building products that can be optionally managed, monitored and secured by Ivanti. We will work with our customers to determine the appropriate level of monitoring and management responsibility based on their product line and industry segment.
Prioritizing Customer-focused Security: We are redirecting resources and making new investments focused on product security across the organization. This includes growing our product security teams, creating dedicated, collaborative engineering-security pods, and driving a proactive approach to threat modeling, security reviews, and increased penetration testing methodologies across our product portfolio.

2. Elevating our vulnerability management program.

Internal and External Research to Identify Vulnerabilities: We are committed to improving processes and collaboration around vulnerability discovery to better enable us to quickly identify, remediate and report security issues across Ivanti’s portfolio. To this end, we are intensifying our internal scanning, manual exploitation and testing capabilities, engaging trusted third parties to augment our internal research and facilitating responsible disclosure of vulnerabilities with increased incentives around an enhanced bug bounty program.
Risk-based Patching and Vulnerability Remediation: The objective of this heightened vulnerability management program is to promptly discover and address any potential issues. While this may naturally cause an initial spike in discovery and disclosure, we are making additional investments in engineering resources, technology and workflow processes to support a risk-based approach that will reduce average time-to-patch for product vulnerabilities that pose the most risk to customer systems.

3. Providing enhanced support for secure product deployments in the field.

Accessibility of Security Resources and Documentation in the Community Portal: Customers should expect community portal enhancements in the coming months, including improved search functionality powered by AI to allow for more curated results based on the specific products that a customer uses. This will include information on patches and documentation. We will also be improving customer security engagement with the implementation of a customer-focused feedback lifecycle, and other user experience upgrades focused on the application of security best practices in customer environments.
Deploying an Improved and Smarter Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System: We are committed to providing our customers with the support they need quickly and effectively. In the coming months we will have implemented an AI-powered Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system that will improve the customer experience for routing calls, alerting customers to security-related information on their product, and automatically open support cases upon request.
Working with Customers to Upgrade to the Latest Platforms: As we work to improve the security of our latest releases, it is also important that our customers are able to benefit from these improvements by running on our most supportable and secure platforms. We are working with customers to reduce friction – be it contractual, technical or financial - to facilitate adoption of the latest and most secure solutions and security enhancements that are built to protect against the current threat landscape.
Overcoming Practical Impediments to Security Hygiene for On-Prem Devices: We understand that the real-world administration of enterprise networks balances practical realities and constraints. When customers require a fully on-prem solution, we are committed to helping them operate within these limits without compromising system security. In the coming weeks, we will be working with on-prem customers to communicate lessons learned and best practices for operating their solutions in the current environment.

4. Sharing information with our customers and community.

Information Sharing and Transparency: Healthy customer relationships are central to our company’s success, and our robust engagement with and feedback from customers throughout this incident has yielded tremendous mutual benefit. We want to ensure this continues. Customers and partners should expect Ivanti to share lessons learned, and we also plan to continue our customer briefings with outside experts, launch a dedicated blog series related to the current threat landscape and conduct webinars and roundtables to address privacy and security topics with our community.
Creation of a Customer Advisory Board: Each of the initiatives above needs to be guided by customer input and tuned with customer feedback. We will institutionalize this process and will be announcing plans in coming weeks to gather customer input for the benefit of product development, feature prioritization, security concerns and strategic decisions about our product roadmaps.

Ivanti Makes Key Connections at MWC 2023

Ivanti made a splash at MWC 2023! Billed as “the largest and most influential connectivity event, where technology, community and commerce converge,” MWC 2023 took place in Barcelona and featured a whopping 85,000 attendees, including executives from top global companies, international governments and – of course – trailblazing tech businesses like Ivanti.

MWC is hosted by GSMA, an industry organization representing mobile network operators. Given Ivanti’s leading position in the mobile device space – with capabilities in mapping, managing and securing devices from cloud to edge – this was a prime opportunity for us to share what we’ve been working on.

The highlights are almost too numerous to recap, but we wanted to share a snapshot of how Ivanti made the most of MWC this year.

We kicked off the event with a welcome dinner for 30 attendees, including executives from several mobile tech companies. The dinner was hosted by Ivanti’s Günter Mayer, Vice President Carrier International and Apple GTM.

In total, the Ivanti team held more than 40 meetings with key executives from the mobile carrier ecosystem. This included meetings with Deutsche Telekom, Orange, BT, Swisscom, FreeMove Alliance, Vodafone, Swisscom, Telefonica, Google, Qualcomm, Nvidia, Everphone, EBF, Sector 27, S2E and many more, including key customers.

Ivanti held two broadcast interviews. One featured Chief Product Officer Srinivas Mukkamala and Global Vice President of Sales Engineering David Shepherd (who also participated in a panel discussion), and the other again featuring Srinivas along with Sally Fuller from BT.

Srinivas and Sally announced Ivanti’s partnership with BT’s EE group, which means that Ivanti’s technology will be offered to SMEs across the United Kingdom under the title “SME Secure UEM,” featuring Ivanti branding. With Ivanti SME Secure UEM, BTs customers can simplify their inventory, configure and manage mobile devices at ease and create profiles and enforce restrictions through security policies.

Ivanti’s Sal Viveros, head of Global Corporate Communications, met with top social media influencers and hosted briefings with Forrester and IDC to share Ivanti’s latest developments. This is all on top of top-tier media interviews that are sure to generate positive buzz in the days and weeks to come.

We know that the conversations we have at MWC make a difference, because this year we were able to announce a major partnership that was formed as a result of last year’s activity. This partnership, with Deutsche Telekom, includes a new joint solution.

We’re thrilled with the experience we had at MWC this year and look forward to the conversations and partnerships that will grow from our efforts there.

Continued expansion of Ivanti Neurons for RBVM and ASOC capabilities

The 2022.4 release of Ivanti Neurons for Risk-Based Vulnerability Management (RBVM) and Ivanti Neurons for App Security Orchestration & Correlation (ASOC) introduces a range of enhancements based on customer feedback:

Playbooks now support the use of "or" filters so users can run more complex queries
Notifications can now be triggered to alert users when new findings are assigned to them and new/updated system filters are available
Key list views for assets and findings get a new user experience with new data grid features, quick filters, KPIs and refined filtering with ‘or’ capabilities

Additionally, this release also includes the introduction of an integration with Sonatype Nexus Lifecycle and enhancements to several existing integrations. Third-party integrations are the lifeblood of RBVM/ASOC platforms and Ivanti is always working diligently to add new and enhance existing integrations.

Ivanti Neurons for Patch Management enhancements

Since its introduction in January, Ivanti has focused on aggressively enhancing Ivanti Neurons for Patch Management. The 2022.4 release of this cloud-native patch management product includes multiple noteworthy developments:

macOS patch scanning and risk insight (beta) provides the ability to scan Mac endpoints and detect vulnerabilities. Resulting endpoint and patch insights are displayed alongside Windows insights in a unified UI. Full remediation for Mac endpoints is currently available via a hybrid approach in which Ivanti Neurons for Patch Management taps into the capabilities of on-premises Ivanti patch management products. A future Ivanti Neurons for Patch Management release will include full macOS support. Bandwidth utilization in the Agent Policy manages network performance by allowing users to set the percentage of WAN/LAN bandwidth to be used when downloading patch content packages from Ivanti Neurons.
CVE upload functionality lets users quickly reconcile a list of CVEs generated by a vulnerability scanner against the Ivanti patch content catalog to reduce the time required to patch vulnerabilities identified in their environment. Ivanti pioneered CVE import functionality years ago for our on-premises patch products and is excited to now offer this functionality in the cloud.

Updates to Ivanti Neurons Patch for MEM

The number of Windows, Android, and iOS devices protected by Microsoft Intune has grown 60% over the past year. However, Intune still provides no native functionality for updating third-party applications for Windows systems, making tools like Ivanti Neurons Patch for MEM more important than ever.

Ivanti recognizes this importance and is continuing to improve Ivanti Neurons Patch for MEM in response. Among the enhancements included in the 2022.4 release of Ivanti Neurons Patch for MEM are the following:

An expanded content catalog now contains a majority of today’s most widely used third-party applications, from 7-Zip to Zoom. Head to the Supported Products page on Ivanti’s website for a full listing of the Ivanti Neurons Patch for MEM content catalog.
A Patched Devices column has been added to the Products table on the Recommended Products page that shows the patch status and number of applicable devices. Recommended Products now gives recommendations based on the software inventory of devices from the Intune environment. This update significantly increases the recommendations and their relevance to the user and provides perspective on the need to begin managing and publishing the product to Intune.
Advanced deployment options have been added to the product, including:
- Toast notifications to provide more interaction with the end user.
- Administrators can now set a deadline for when an application must be installed. This ensures all systems are updated by a particular date, which is critical when some applications are known to be vulnerable or if a new feature must be available to everyone at a particular time.
- Administrators can now also provide additional options for users to interact with when their system restarts following an active update. For example, a grace period can be assigned with additional countdown and snooze options.

New features for Ivanti Security Controls

The powerful Ivanti Security Controls has been further strengthened with the following updates in its 2022.4 release:

Automate to Compliance is a new REST API script that automates the steps in the patch process (scan, deploy, reboot), repeating the steps until all patches have been deployed to the designated machines.
The patch metadata function in the REST API has been enhanced to provide better sorting and pagination capabilities when viewing the query results.
The agent UI has been updated. Much more information is now provided in the patch task logs about the patch status (downloads, installs, success, failure, error messages).
A security enhancement has been made to the SSH server connection process. Customers now have the option to block connections to an SSH server whose identity is not validated prior to sending credential information.
The Windows Deployment History tab in the machine view has been updated to add more error code information.

Also, please note that the deprecation of Windows 8.1 support for the Ivanti Security Controls console is scheduled for January 2023. As of the 2023.1 release, Ivanti Security Controls console will no longer be installable on Windows 8.1.

Trusted Sites: For improved security, we’ve added “Trusted Sites” which means the system administrator must configure the domains, paths or IP addresses allowed to access Xtraction. For existing customers upgrading to Ivanti Xtraction 2022.3 please see the upgrade notes for detailed instructions.
Database Traffic Encryption: All traffic from Xtraction can now be encrypted and/or requires a specific certificate. There are two new settings that support this, “Encrypt” and “Trust Server Certificate”.
New Authentication Providers: It is now possible to use either Microsoft Azure Active Directory (AAD) or Okta as authentication providers for Xtraction.
Connectors: In response to feedback, the connectors are regularly updated. This quarter we have updated the connectors to Ivanti Neurons for ITSM, ServiceNow, Jira Service Manager, Ivanti Security Controls and Ivanti Endpoint Manager

Ivanti Workspace Control 2022.4

Ivanti Workspace Control continues to add customer-requested feature enhancements with each release and the 2022.4 release continues this trend by including the following capabilities:

Troubleshooting – Sampling Mode column: Sampling Mode is a great feature but can rapidly fill up your database. We’ve introduced a Sampling mode column in the user settings overview. The Workspace Control Administrator can now filter the newly added column to see if any of the User settings are configured to use Sampling mode.
Reporting – Configuration Item Field: We’ve added a Configuration Item Field to the Application Properties view so that Applications can be mapped/linked to external change management systems. When changes have a negative impact on the User Experience, this field can be used to easily identify changes made in the time period when issues have been reported to the service desk.
Integrations – Ivanti Browser Manager: This integration enables customers to save and deploy Ivanti Browser Manager configurations using Custom Resources.
Ignore IP addresses: we enhanced the Engineering registry keys to hide specific Client or Server IP Addresses/Ranges from the User Session overview.
Inform about Azure AD TLS requirements: The window that is being used to configure Azure Active Directory will now inform you about the TLS 1.2 requirement. Once configured, the console process will always check if the TLS settings are being met on the device where the administrator starts the Workspace Control Console.
Connection State in User event log: We now report any change in the Connection States in the user Event Log. In previous versions, the connection state changes were not reported.

Ivanti Device & Application Control 2022.4

The 2022.4 release introduces the following new features:

Search Option within Device Explorer: It is easier than ever to find the right device you are looking for. A new search bar searches through all the fields visible in the Device Explorer and automatically moves the focus to the string found. You can also use the keyboard to move to the next search result (F3) or move to the previous result (Shift + F3).
Allow Client-Side Disk Encryption of Larger Storage Drives: End-Users can encrypt USB storage devices larger than 2TB (non-portable encryption) directly on the client. No need any longer to involve the Administrator.
Increase Number of Days within the DB Maintenance Tasks: Now you can select up to 9999 days for entries to keep under DB Maintenance settings.
Agent Notification Filtering by Device Class: Configure which notifications your end-users should see, and which they shouldn't, to help reduce “notification fatigue” associated with users receiving too many notifications.
Official Support for ARM64 Architecture (Specifically Microsoft Surface devices): With this enhancement we can reach even more endpoints and increase the security in your environment.

Ivanti Identity Director 2022.4

The latest release of Ivanti Identity Director eases the load on IT departments by allowing them to fully prioritize critical services and by making access certification campaigns more granular and more friendly for everyone.

Here’s how we enhanced access certification:

Advanced notification settings for users and managers: You can now choose granular notification triggers for reviewers and their managers alike.
Campaigns can be duplicated: This speeds up the definition phase of campaigns, as many one-time campaigns have multiple similar aspects to previous ones.
Reason for approval or denying of access: One particularly important aspect in certifying access is the ability to record the reasons why access is approved or denied. This is now possible on a person-by-person basis through the process.
Expanding the scope of the “Group Membership” data source: People brought in via this connector are now also being searched for in deeper levels, such as subgroups.

Identity Director 2022.4 also includes changes based on customer feedback that will bring some big improvements to self-servicing workflows:

We allow complex operations to be presented in a straightforward way in the Provide Information WFA, like allowing data in tables to be presented and queried in a tree type structure.
Customers can now use the service person checklist and person list attributes in page conditions in the Provide Information WFA.

Ivanti Service Desk 2022.4

The 2022.4 release introduces the following new features:

Bulk Actions in Web Access: A much-requested customer feature, enabling you to run an action on several items at the same time.
REST Behaviour DELETE method: You can now use the DELETE method with the REST web service which helps to extend integration support for the O365 framework.
Web Access Framework enhancements: We’ve updated and added new functionality to the Web Access Framework to close the gap between Web Access and the Console / Workspaces functionality.
Usability improvements: We’ve made several improvements for administrators and designers including:
- Manage Scheduled Data Import: Allow individual import definitions to be suspended
- Calendar-based chat availability: Chat is automatically switched on and off based on an SLA calendar
- Chat Screen Names: Ability to set the name displayed for users in a Chat window

Good as Gold: Award-Winning Campaign Reveals What People Really Think About the Everywhere Workplace

Now that the world has embraced the long-term shift to the Everywhere Workplace, what do workers really think about it? That’s what we sought to find out with an ambitious survey that led to an eye-opening rendition of our annual Everywhere Workplace report.

It also led to a big award.

On behalf of everyone at Ivanti who worked hard on this survey and the resulting report and campaign, I’m thrilled to announce that the Globee Awards, organizers of the world’s premier business awards programs and ranking lists, have named Ivanti a Gold Winner of the 2022 Golden Bridge Awards for Communications or PR Campaign of the Year for Brand and Reputation Management.

This exciting recognition is for Ivanti’s Everywhere Workplace brand campaign.

If you missed the campaign and want to know why it garnered so much attention, here’s a recap. On March 9, 2022, we released the results of our annual Everywhere Workplace report that canvassed the opinions of over 6,100 office workers and IT professionals in the US, UK, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden and Australia.

The goal: cut through speculation and highlight trends. What’s it truly like in the Everywhere Workplace? Who’s benefiting from it? What are the drawbacks? Are there divides along gender and generational lines?

We also worked with leading “future of work” experts to uncover employee sentiments related to the Everywhere Workplace.

What people really think about the Everywhere Workplace

The survey provided a massive volume of thoughtful, candid responses.

A few highlights:

71% of employees would choose to work from anywhere over being promoted.
64% of employees would even take a pay cut to be able to work from anywhere.
Only 13% of employees would like to permanently return to the office full-time.

Despite the popularity of remote work, we found that 10% of respondents reported a negative effect on their mental health stemming from remote work. Plus, the survey revealed that remote work is affecting men and women differently with 70% of women reporting experiencing negative effects from remote work, versus only 30% of men.

The results of the survey resonated with people in a big way – and not just with this award.

Within the first three weeks, 151 articles covering Ivanti’s report, including 14 top-tier outlets such as Forbes, Inc., The Business Journals and Computer Weekly. That added up to a potential reach of over 250 million readers.

We also hosted a satellite media tour, where our spokespeople and future of work experts offered insight through TV and radio interviews. An additional 44 broadcast and radio segments were publicized, with three of them syndicated 563 times, reaching a total audience of 40,179,755.

The satellite media tour web posts potentially reached 691,560,710 people, with supporting content on social media gaining over 2.1 million impressions.

We’re honored to be a leader in both enabling and understanding the Everywhere Workplace, and this very real data and these insights are a critical part of helping us lead from the front with actionable solutions to make the Everywhere Workplace work better for everyone.

The Everywhere Workplace is evolving rapidly in the post-COVID world. To stay competitive, companies must adapt advancing technology, shift to a permanent structure featuring flexible workspaces, and embrace digital transformation.

With ISA, Policy Secure customers can enjoy enhanced security and better performance over PSA series counterparts. Even better, ISA is fully compatible with existing PSA deployments, and can be used as drop-in replacements for existing PSA hardware.

Ivanti Neurons for RBVM and Ivanti Neurons ASOC now integrated with Ivanti Neurons for ITSM

With the 2022 Q3 release of Ivanti Neurons for Risk-Based Vulnerability Management (RBVM) and Ivanti Neurons for App Security Orchestration & Correlation (ASOC), these solutions are now integrated with Ivanti Neurons for ITSM. This integration lets users easily create tickets in Ivanti Neurons for ITSM for Ivanti Neurons for RBVM / Ivanti Neurons for ASOC projects and problems. Updates and additions synchronize seamlessly between Ivanti Neurons for RBVM / Ivanti Neurons for ASOC and the ITSM tickets. Additionally, vulnerability details, risk scores and other information included in the tickets enable security teams and operations teams to easily collaborate.

Two Ivanti Neurons for Patch Management releases

Ivanti continues to enhance our Ivanti Neurons for Patch Management product originally released in January 2022. The 2022 Q3 release of Ivanti Neurons for Patch Management includes the following updates:

Windows peer-to-peer download – In this release, we have introduced the option to enable peer-to-peer download in the agent policy to allow files to be distributed through a network of peers. Enabling peer-to-peer download allows devices with an Ivanti Cloud instance to share patches from one device to another, distributing the file transfer load between the devices exchanging files.
Patch Configuration – deploy by patch group enhancement for superseded patches – Patch scanning in Ivanti Neurons for Patch Management always scans for the latest of all products, but Patch Groups give users the ability to select a specific version of a patch for deployment that could have been superseded by another patch. Enhancements have been made to scan inputs conducted prior to patch deployments that include a Patch Group to include the earlier/superseded patches included in the Patch Group. This ensures all patches in a Patch Group are deployed when a Patch Group is configured for deployment in a Patch Configuration, even if some of those patches have been superseded by other patches.
Endpoint Vulnerability Bulk Export to CSV, All Devices – In Endpoint Vulnerability, users have had the ability to export the device data in the grid to a CSV file. We have added the ability to bulk export all devices to a single CSV file.

In addition to this quarterly release, we also issued a feature release for Ivanti Neurons for Patch Management in June that included the following capabilities:

Phase 1: Sideload patch support & workflow / customer-hosted storage – Sometimes a patch cannot be downloaded directly from a vendor by Ivanti Neurons for Patch Management. With this release, we have expanded patch support to allow users to manually acquire patches from vendors via the Patch Intelligence view.
Context action – Endpoint Vulnerability & Device Details – Based on user feedback, we have added the option for users to scan now or deploy missing patches in the Endpoint Vulnerability view and to scan now or deploy one or more selected patches in the Device Detail view for devices managed by the Ivanti Neurons agent.

Expanded FIDO support for Ivanti ZSO

Prior to the 2022 Q3 release of Ivanti Zero Sign-On (ZSO), the solution supported FIDO security keys on Windows and Mac desktops. These same security keys can now be used to log into cloud-based applications using mobile devices. This Q3 release will allow end users to register their FIDO security key on their mobile devices and then use the security keys to authenticate to cloud applications on those devices. User portal registration and authentication will be supported on iOS/iPadOS and Android mobile devices.

Another exciting feature included in the 2022 Q3 ZSO release will allow end users to perform passwordless authentication to cloud applications using Touch ID and fingerprints on their mobile devices. This feature is made possible via support for built-in FIDO2 authenticators on mobile devices where end users will be able to register and authenticate to cloud application using biometrics.

Key capabilities for Ivanti Neurons for ITSM

Powerful no-code environment capabilities

Ivanti has expanded on no-code capabilities with powerful stored expressions, variables, and stored values. Ivanti Neurons for ITSM customers can now design Composite Actions in a new, intuitive, visual designer, while keeping the ability to use the existing form-based editor. Upon migration to the Ivanti Neurons for ITSM platform, familiar no-code design capabilities in an improved web-based interface will be available for Cherwell Service Management customers. All existing Ivanti Neurons for ITSM actions, as well as new actions, are planned to be supported.

Expanded Event Management experience to enable critical workflows

Additionally, Ivanti Neurons for ITSM now includes expanded event management capability to support security and other event types. New integrations include incorporating polling data from RiskSense and bi-directional integration with Atlassian Jira. Event notifications can be linked with configuration item (CI) data from the CMDB, enabling Ivanti Neurons to support a wide new range of event-driven automated workflows for addressing security and other incidents and changes.

Modern User Experience that is seamless across devices and screen sizes

Ivanti continues to improve the user experience for both end users and analysts through the introduction of additional controls that can be used in the Modern Analyst UI. We will continue to progress the user experience towards the vision of a modern experience that is seamless across mobile, tablet and desktop.

Unified Endpoint Management / Digital Experience Management

Autonomously quantify and optimize your Digital Employee Experience

Ivanti Neurons for Digital Experience enables organizations to track, score, and optimize their employee’s digital experience to improve productivity, security, and employee retention. It effectively measures and proactively optimizes the experience employees get through the devices and applications they rely on in their Everywhere Workplace and provides IT teams with:

Real-time actionable insights: Aggregate and monitor usage, performance, and security data from all the devices and applications employees use to be productive
Understand employee sentiment: Go beyond post-ticket surveys and collect contextual sentiment via interactive automation bots to understand employees’ experience with the technology they use to get their job done
Track and optimize experience over time: Measure, score and optimize the digital employee experience to track experience over time and predict potential productivity degradation
Prevent issues before they happen: Surface potential IT and security issues and make recommendations on actions to remediate and improve the digital employee experience.

This is critical, given a recent study by Ivanti revealed that 49% of employees are frustrated by company-provided tech. Ivanti Workspace Control 2022.3

Ivanti Workspace Control 2022.3 introduces the following new features and enhancements:

Authorized Owners: We have now finalized the Authorized Owners feature, following its initial introduction in the 2022.1 release.
Support for Modern Desktop: We have made some further changes to help customers ease the journey to Windows 11 and speed up Windows 11 adoption.
Logon Performance Enhancement: We have provided the ability to see full detailed logon information along with the ability to easily filter on anything that takes longer than 0.2 seconds.
Export Enhancements: All list views in the console can now be exported for further analysis or for import into a 3rd party reporting tool (e.g., PowerBI/Splunk).
MSIX Early Access: We are currently adding MSIX support to the product so that we can deliver the same experience as we currently do with App-V 4.x and 5.x. This release provides a sneak preview of this feature and is available for customers as an Early Access feature. Ivanti Device Control 2022.3

Ivanti Device Control 2022.3 introduces the following new features and enhancements:

Cloud Drive Management: Application Boundary is a new feature for logging and controlling cloud drive applications. A small subset of its functionality was made available as a public preview with V2022.1, and the enhanced functionality is now fully available in this release.
Additional logging option for optical media: There is now an additional option to log every INSERT event for optical media.
Improved logging and handling of connected Bluetooth devices: The handling of bluetooth connected devices has been improved by also including the UniqueID. This improves the identification of individual Bluetooth devices and enables you to set individual permissions on a single instance of a device.
MacOS Agent enhancement: The MacOS client agent can now handle the Wi-Fi and Ethernet Class in the same way as on the Windows side.
Reporting for BitLocker system drive encryption: The Client Status report now includes an additional column to provide an overview of which client is protected using the BitLocker System Drive Encryption - and more importantly, which client is not currently protected.

Ivanti Identity Director 2022.3

In this release of Ivanti Identity Director, we have made access certifications more flexible and powerful through several enhancements:

Allow mass operation throughout the review process: You can now approve/deny all access with just a few clicks in the User Portal.
Create recurring schedule for campaigns: Campaigns can now be scheduled to run on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis.
Reconciliation area: The Microsoft Active Directory connector has been moved to a separate reconciliation area. Here, you are now also able to see the people being synchronized and brought in from the Microsoft AD.
Expanding the scope of the “Group Membership” data source: People brought in via this connector are also being searched for in deeper levels, such as subgroups.

Beyond access certification enhancements, we have made these additional updates to Identity Director:

Added two person attributes that are brought in dynamically from smart rules. The results of those smart rules are people that can be used in the form of list and checklist attributes within provide information.
Made UX enhancements to the user portal and the management portal.
Offered the ability for the end user to search within the list attribute used in provide Information.

Ivanti Service Desk 2022.3

Ivanti Service Desk 2022.3 introduces the following new features and enhancements:

Ivanti Neurons integration: The 2022.3 release adds an OAuth2 connection to Ivanti Neurons enabling customers to populate device and user data from the Ivanti Neurons platform into Ivanti Service Desk.
REST Web Service enhancement: We have further enhanced the REST web service in the 2022.2 release by adding OAuth2 authentication and XML-based payloads support to REST behavior. This enables customers to create and update Microsoft Office 365 calendar entries for activities such as Change Management or Engineer scheduling and to integrate with XML payload-based tools such as Microsoft Orchestrator.

Ivanti Endpoint Security 2022.2 introduces the following new features and enhancements:

REST API enhancements: We have made some significant additions to the set of REST APIs available for Ivanti Endpoint Security. Version 2.0 of the REST API Framework adds several APIs focused on Patch Automation and Policy Export scenarios
Audit Log Enhancements: We have enhanced our audit logs to include patch deployment and user/administrator role changes.
Package Editor Support: Following the EoL of Microsoft Internet Explorer, we have updated the Package Editor so that it can be used with the Microsoft Edge Browser in IE mode.

Secure employee offboarding with Identity Director and Device Control

Many IT teams struggle to support the employee onboarding and offboarding process. Ivanti Identity Director enables organizations to grant employees access for a secure and productive first day, and automatically adapts rights as roles change or as employees leave the organization. By integrating Ivanti Identity Director with Ivanti Device Control, we have further enhanced an organization’s ability to deliver a secure, offboarding process.

Once an employee has handed in their notice, this integration enables organizations to automatically limit data transfers and/or monitor exactly what the employee does with corporate data. Our company, because of our foundation through acquisition, was made up of a diverse set of companies, backgrounds and cultures. As an acquisitive company, by our very nature we know that our whole is greater than the sum of our parts, so we want the mindset of inclusion – and the Ivanti Everyone principles – to proliferate.

It has been proven that diversity enhances innovation and better decision making within an organization.
