Ivanti Desktop and Server Management 2021.1 is Now Available!

The new major release of Ivanti Desktop & Server Management (DSM) is now available!

This release focuses on more cloud functionality and therefore moves DSM to the future. We have greatly enhanced the DSM connector for Ivanti Neurons to use the collected DSM data directly in Ivanti Neurons for Patch Intelligence.

This will allow you to have a much better overview of your environment from the security side. By gathering and displaying the DSM data directly in Ivanti Neurons you can leverage the dashboards to identify possible security risks, or ensure your endpoints are already protected.

We also officially introduce the option of installing a site depot directly in the Azure cloud. Besides other great advantages, this will eliminate the need of maintain an in-House DMZ depot for your external clients.

Do you have trouble getting a reboot completed during a script installation on clients with BitLocker System Drive encryption enabled?

No problem!

We've got you covered with a new eScript command to 'pause' the drive encryption for a specific number of reboots. This will enable you to achieve a true unattended software installation - even if the software requires a reboot. No need for the end-user to stay in front of the screen and enter the pin during each automatic reboot!

Ivanti Device Control 5.4 is Now Available!

It's time to talk about a new amazing number (a number I'm very proud of) - the number 10.

'10' is not the new version number of Ivanti Device & Application Control - 10 is the number of new features and functionality that we have delivered with our latest product release!

We have used all of your valuable feedback to create an even more valuable version of Ivanti Device and Application Control with release 5.4.

New features include:

Further enhancements of our new MacOS agent,
A simplified process to establish the connection between a MacOS client and the server
Enhanced SDK
The ability to synchronise with Azure-AD, and so much more!

The true 'wow' features however are the ability to manage the BitLocker system drive encryption directly in our product and the enhanced security enabling the PowerShell Constrained Language Mode directly in IDAC.

The new BitLocker feature allows you to ensure all of your client endpoints are secured via the BitLocker encryption and enabling the PowerShell Constrained Language Mode directly within the product limits the PowerShell functionality to the “day-to-day” tasks to stay productive and secure.

Both features add an additional layer of security to the product and your environment.

Ivanti Device and Application Control (IDAC) now supports MacOS!

In case you haven't heard the news....

Our beloved Ivanti Device and Application Control (IDAC) is no longer limited to just Microsoft Windows!

With the release of IDAC 5.3 earlier this month, we have now expanded the platform support with a brand new MacOS agent.

And with all the exciting features already included in the 5.3 release earlier this year (you can read more about the IDAC 5.3 release here) we have increased the functionality even more with the recently released Update 1 for IDAC 5.3.

The exciting new MacOS functionality includes:

- Shadowing support

- UI Notifications

- Further improved agent details

Ivanti Desktop and Server Management Goes from Strength to Strength with Latest Release!

Ivanti Desktop and Server Management continues to grow and innovate with the latest update - now available for all customers.

Further underlining our previous commitment to the continued investment and growth of the product – DSM remains a much loved and valued solution by many enterprises and we look forward to further exciting enhancements in the future!

In addition to the latest release – we are excited to announce one of the most significant new enhancements to DSM in recent times...

Ivanti Neurons for Discovery Connector!

Enrich Ivanti Neurons for Discovery data via DSM data. The Connector will be able to connect to the DSM Database directly and collect information such as:

Inventory data
Installed DSM packages
User data
Open Vulnerabilities

There is also no need to install the Neurons Agent in addition to the DSM Client Agent - the DSM database will provide the data to Ivanti Neurons for Discovery via the new Connector!

The new service update for Ivanti Desktop and Server Management includes several bug fixes as well as a focus on increased client-side password security.

With Service Update 2 for DSM 2020.2 we have improved password handling within the product.

While all server-side passwords are already encrypted with the highest AES standard, we have now improved the client-side password handling using Argon2.

With this implementation we further increase the security in handling those client-side passwords.

While we always recommend the ‘Zero-Account-Model’ (using the system account whenever possible) for high security environments, the newly implemented standard dramatically increases the security in environments that have a dedicated Runtime user in place.

Service Update 2 includes more than 10 bug fixes and as service updates are cumulative, the new update can be installed directly onto DSM 2020.2.

Update 1 for Ivanti Device and Application Control is Now Available!

We are excited to announce the release of Update 1 for Ivanti Device and Application Control v5.3!

Following on from the release of v5.3 in April - Update 1 further builds upon the innovative new features introduced earlier this year.

We officially introduced support for MacOS devices with v5.3 – and Update 1 provides even more features and functionality for managing your Apple devices.

Keep the users informed

Update 1 includes the ability to have action-based client notifications on your MacOS devices in a similar to how you manage your Windows clients today.

This means you'll see detailed notifications on the endpoint that will keep your uses up to date. As always, you decide which actions are worth being notified of!

Know what happens with your files

See exactly where your files go - the new shadowing support for MacOS devices lets you see the file name as well as the size of all the files being copied.

See what matters

We’ve improved the way that the MacOS agent provides insights about the current state and health of the agent – so you can see all the important information in a more user-friendly overview.

Not only have we enhanced the MacOS capabilities - we’ve also improved the visibility and usability of the Management Console by adding a new column to show individual device instances.

We’ve also added the ability to remove all Scan Templates that you don't need or use to focus on only the important items and entries within the console.

Our Application Control customers can also now benefit from the ability to exclude specific certificates from the Trusted Certificates store to simplify application management.

Brand New Desktop and Server Management Remote Control Capability

We are very excited to announce the official release of Ivanti Desktop and Server Management Remote Control - A new Remote Control solution based on Ivanti technology!

Ivanti continues to provide useful tools to support our customers in the Everywhere Workplace – especially in times where remote work is more often the norm rather than the exception.

With that in mind, Desktop and Server Management new Remote Control capability is able to reach all Windows computers no matter whether they are in a local network, connected via VPN, or on a completely different network (i.e. working from home, etc.). The new Remote Control tool was designed with security in mind.

Users now have the ability to use the Desktop and Server Management internal role permissions to narrow down the usage to only those employees who need it. Remote Control will use SSL by default and customers will be able to create and use their own certificate, or use a ticket created by Ivanti Desktop and Server Management.

Customers will have the convenience of starting the remote session directly inside the program. For additional flexibility we also integrated the ability to start a remote session via command line or directly from a browser window.

To further increase the productivity, features like file transfer, remote execution and clipboard sharing are also available. The up-to-date compression algorithm will ensure a fast and smooth Remote Control experience even on lower bandwidth.

Look for the next Desktop and Server Management product release and service update scheduled for April 6.

Ivanti’s extended products group is pleased to bring you the latest release – Desktop and Server Management 2020.2. This update includes improved password encryption, tighter Ivanti Xtraction integration, a new remote control feature (BETA), and a new MSIX Packaging Wizard.

New features and functionalities include:

Improved password encryption throughout the ICDB - Desktop and Server Management (DSM) 2020.2 will be using RSA 2048 bit asymmetric key pairs and AES 256 bit symmetric key encryption algorithms to further improve the password security in the DSM environment.
New eScript command to execute Powershell 7 scripts - Introducing the command “RunPS7Script” which can execute Powershell 7 scripts directly.
Tighter Ivanti Xtraction integration and pre-configured Out-Of-The-Box Dashboards - Pre-defined Xtraction dashboards can query the DSM database directly to deliver meaningful reports of the entire environment.
Ivanti Desktop and Server Management Remote Control (BETA) - Newly designed tool to connect to internal and external clients.
Added line numbers in eScript editor to support troubleshooting - After enabling the Extended Script Editor in the Packaging Workbench, you are now able to see the line numbers which will improve the troubleshooting capability should a script fail on a specific line.
New packaging wizard for MSIX files – allowing you to create a software package based on the new MSIX standard.
